Who Accountable suits
Accountable is a tax application built for the self-employed and small businesses in Germany, rather than a Steuerberater practice. It suits freelancers and solo founders who want to handle routine VAT and income-tax filing themselves through software, at lower cost than engaging a tax adviser for every step.
The trade-off is scope: an app does not replace a licensed Steuerberater for anything that counts as reserved tax advice or representation before the Finanzamt. If your situation is a straightforward freelance return it may be all you need; if you run a GmbH or have cross-border income, treat it as a complement to, not a substitute for, a tax adviser.
